Voices From the Line - March 2026 - Week 2

A cancer diagnosis is overwhelming even when you have the support of friends and family, but when you are elderly and isolated, it can be crushing.  This recent example shows how we can give our neighbors a little hope that they will be able to navigate a tough situation on their own.

Our call center was recently contacted by an elderly individual who was diagnosed with cancer and will need transportation for a surgery they have coming up soon.  Our agent was able to connect them with their parish Council on Aging for transportation, as well as the CancerCare Co-Payment Assistance Foundation and an additional foundation that offers support for their specific diagnosis.  After a few demographic questions, we learned that the caller is also a veteran which opened a few more options specifically for those who served.

Now this individual knows that they are not alone on their cancer journey and hopefully we have made someone’s life a little bit easier.
