Volunteers Needed - Assist Custodial Parents in the Recovery of Lost Child Support: The non-profit Promise, Inc. is in need of volunteers to assist Custodial parents in the recovery of lost child support. Fran The Van Family Literacy Program and Barnes and Nobel Booksellers have teamed up for a book drive titled"100 Books - 100 days" that will be launched at the store from 10am to 3pm, Nov. 5. New & used books collected from donors from Nov 5 until Feb 19, 2006 will be given to evacuees of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita and used in the promotion of literacy in Acadiana. "Road to Recovery": The American Cancer Society announces it's new program, "Road To Recovery." The greatest challenge for many cancer patients today is due to the lack of transportation to medical facilities. The Road to Recovery was formed to help alleviate this problem. Volunteer coordinators, trainers and drivers are needed in Acadiana. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please call (337) 237-3797. Music classes offered for children 3 and Up: Acadiana Symphony & Conservatory offers classes, including Suzuki music classes, for ages 3 and Up. Instruction includes Young Voices Class, singing lessons for ages 6-12; Music appreciation for ages 16 & Up; "Mommy Sing with Me" for ages 0-5; Home Schoolers' Band and "We Rock" Recorders for ages 9 & Up; Chamber Music (vocalists and instrumentalists) and Young People's String Orchestra.
