Buchanan Street, Day/Time: August 9 - August 11; 9 am - 4 pm. Parents will need to bring: Proof of food stamps (this paperwork lists the children in the household). If you do not receive food stamps, bring Copies of the children's Social Security cards. You do not have to bring proof of income or any other information. This distribution will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. Not all items on the school supply lists can be provided, but AOC will provide a basic selection of school supply items for each child.

SUMMER CAMP REGISTRATION Lafayette - The Lafayette Recreation and Parks Department (LRPD) is gearing up for the summer with registration for two summer camps. Regular
Registration for the two camps will run Monday, May 21 through Friday,
May “Summer
Enrichment Program” will be offered at nine of the Recreation and
Parks Department’s Recreation Centers for boys and girls ages 5-14 and
runs weekdays from June 11 - July 27 with a week off during the 4th of
July holidays, July 2-July 6, 2007. Cost of the camp is $50 for 9 a.m.
until 4 p.m., with an additional cost for early drop off and/or late
pick up. “Parks and Recreation Department Special Population Summer Program” (“Camp We Can Do”) is offered for school aged children with special needs disabilities. This camp runs weekdays from June 11 - August 3 with the week off of July 2-July 6 for the 4th of July holidays. Cost of this camp is $125 for attendance from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. with an additional cost for early drop off and/or late pick up. For

Consolidated Volunteer Drivers Needed: Lafayette - The Women' Shelter for pregnant women needs volunteer drivers to bring girls to/from doctor appointments, jobs and other places as their needs arise. There are currently two (2) resident girls. There are no 'set' times or schedules, so if you hear this 'call' and decide to volunteer, it will be on an "as needed" basis! Lafayette -The Acadiana Safety Association offers adult Acadiana American Red Cross hosts CPR for Schools and Community Program for adults, child and infants, once per month, in Lafayette and New Iberia. The cost for the CPR class is $40; the combined CPR and First Aid Class is $50. All classes are state approved for child and day care workers; other course are also offered. All low- to moderate-income Louisianans may be eligible for Disaster Food Stamp benefits in the event of a natural disaster and should pre-apply now for benefits online or by phone. Current Food Stamp recipients do not need to pre-apply and would receive disaster benefits automatically. If a Disaster Food Stamp Program (DFSP) is implemented, this pre-application will be available to the agency. You will have to go to a DFSP site for an eligibility interview. LA Technical College offers free training: New Iberia - Louisiana Technical College, Teche Area Campus is offering a tuition-free heavy equipment operator program through the Rapid Response Training grant. This 418-hour, non-credit program will be offered 7:30am to 3:30pm weekdays. Classes start August 21 and end November 18. Opportunity for Out-of-School Youths Ages 16-21: Lafayette -The Louisiana Technical College's Lafayette campus is recruiting out-of-school youth for a career training program called Keeping Youth Trained and Educated (K.I.T.E.S.). The program is for students that have dropped out of high school and students currently enrolled in a GED program. Students receive skills training, support services and the opportunity to explore career opportunities. The program is free and students can earn money for attendance.
